Grab your furry and scaly friends to join us for drinks this week with Camille as we discuss animal behavior and cognition! How exactly can you define intelligence, and to what degree can human behavior be considered distinctly human? From birds who teach their offspring to use tools to insects that farm fungi and raise other insects as livestock, there is no easy definition to anything in the animal kingdom! And, yes, we make sure to touch on my favorite subject, death, with elephant mourning practices.

Is a lack of a God the basis for a religion? This week we tackle that very question over drinks with Meag! We get into everything from the myths of atheism, the history of it, and the various tenents. What is, actually, the difference between a philosophy and a religion? Can one have religion without God? And how much of *this* particular philosophy is misunderstood, and how much does it have in common with other forms of spirituality?
Books &c Mentioned this episode were...
the Thomas Jefferson version of the Bible
Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion"
Joseph Campbell's "Godesses: Mysteries of the Feminine Divine"
the infamous Stephen Fry interview where he lambasts God
Pierre Chodelos de Laclos' "Dangerous Liaisons"
NOTE:
The Drunk Host must be corrected by the Sober Editor, becuse Robespierre was, in fact, an impassioned advocate of the Cult of the Supreme Being (Culte de l'Être Suprême), while the Cult of Reason (Culte de la Raison) was a rival state religion pushed by the like of Fouche and Herbert.
